Before you can achieve anything in sales you must first know what it is you want to accomplish by setting your goals. Ask yourself this, what is it in my sales effort that if I did more of or did it better would help me achieve those goals.
Set your goals, have a plan to put them into action, and then measure them to see if you accomplished what you set out to do.
Be specific in what it is you want to accomplish.
Make sure your goals are realistic, that they can be achieved if you excel. Having goals that are unrealistic is frustrating. You are setting up a scenario that will be self defeating.
Make sure your goals are measurable. Put a deadline on them. If goals take too long or you never finish them they are of little value.
Have a plan to support them and put them into action.
How will you do what needs to be done to get you to where you want to be.
Constantly evaluate your goals and update them when they need changing or alterations?
Write your goals down and how they will be accomplished this will keep you current and make you aware of where you stand at any given time. You can refer to them, change them, and amend them as the moment dictates.
Having a set of goals and a plan to put them into affect serves as positive reinforcement.
Thinking up things for yourself that you don't get out of sales books, or hear at a lecture can sometimes help you achieve success. Some times you have to think for yourself, think outside of the box as the much cliched phrase dictates. Be innovative. Figure out how to get the result you need by yourself. Some times it's the simple things you come up with that will be of the most value to you. (Refer to my blog July 17th Setting goals to become number 1)
Goals, Plan, Action.
Goal: What do I want to accomplish in sales?
Plan: How do I accomplish my goals and measure them ?
Action : What do I do to make my goals a reality?
