A variety of skills are needed to achieve the goals we want in sales. How we use and coordinate these skills is the strategy we must adapt to be successful. We must choose the right course of action dictated by a set of circumstances to make effective use of our strategy. Although we can't predict what will happen during a call, we can however be prepared for what may happen if we planned a strategy for most possibilities beforehand.
You can never be sure of what will happen during a sales call but you should try to control the events as best as you can. The course of the sales call depends on many factors. The attitude of the customer, the sales' persons attitude and the set of variables involved. Although it is hard to predict what will happen on the call, going into it armed with a strategy can help handle most things that do come up.
A sales strategy is a plan to achieve the objective of a successful close. To develop a strategy you must understand each selling skill, when to use it, and the results you can obtain by using it. Salespeople should understand how various skills blend together . How one part of the sale leads to another. How does the general benefit statement lead to probing, and agreement and support statements. How do these things lead to the close. Salespeople must understand the basics of sales. Knowing the essential parts of the sale is what leads you to develop a strategy to handle most everything that can come up during a sales call.
Knowing the basics that make up a sale is what makes you capable of formulating a strategy to make the sale.
