Everything in life must evolve or cease to exist. The same applies to business in general. Everyone concerned with the process of doing business has become more professional. Buyers especially are subject to more management control and scrutiny, consequently they have to be right as never before in their decision making. Many of them look to the salesperson for guidance.
To be able to help buyers and themselves salespeople must be equipped with the the necessary facts, figures, data, and knowledge to do this. As products evolve the pressure on salespeople to help their customer's keep up has also accelerated. This increase in technical requirements has increased the salesperson's responsibility to the customer and his company.
In our technological society the salesperson must possess the necessary information to satisfy the customer's wants and needs. Today's salesperson must not only be a bastion of trust and professionalism, but also an educator, and a possessor of knowledge concerning both the industry and his product.
The process the salesperson uses to give out this information and work it into a presentation is the way to benefit the customer, help them, gain their trust, and consequently get the sale.
