Customers have certain problems that need solving or certain goals they need to achieve. If you present them with a product that will help them do this it is likely they will buy it.
This is your objective. To move the customer toward a decision to buy. They will only consider buying what you have to sell if they are convinced it will help achieve specific goals they have.
You the salesperson must probe to determine those goals which your customer may have that your product can help them achieve. You then present your product, point out the features and benefits that are of use to the customer, and then relate those benefits to the specific goals being discussed.
The information you give the customer in your presentation will influence him and help move him toward a buying decision.
