To become successful as a salesperson, I knew early on that I had do certain things. I had to set some parameters , establish some goals and monitor myself. I came up with the following elements that I incorporated into my daily routine to insure success.
A- I knew I had to have a good product to sell. I had to know it inside and out and also know my competitors and their product. I must know the features and benefits of my product and be able to present it properly. I had to be able to understand my product and what makes it attractive to customers so they would buy it.
B- I had to make sure I was qualified as a salesperson and have a good appearance with no distracting traits or mannerisms, and above all be ethical.
C- I had to know my territory. I had to know where and how to find customers and how to to handle various types, and above all, keep good records.
D- Work on being at the right place at the right time.
E- I had to work on becoming proficient at making presentations.
F- I had to always work on sharpening my selling technique.
G- Most importantly I had to discipline and apply myself.
Selling is not a nine to five job. It is a do what is necessary to be successful job.
