Did you ever notice why some salespeople seem so successful or why some people seem to gravitate towards certain salespeople and buy from them ? What is that certain something that seems to make some salespeople so successful ? They seem to do very little but they seem to always be selling.
A salesperson was relating to me how this young lady who worked with him in a furniture store always seemed to have customers' seeking her out. They would gravitate to her and more times than not she would sell them. She did not know the product any better than him or do anything more impressive than him, but she sold. "She's just lucky". Do not bet on it. What was she doing? So what gives.
Did you ever walk into a car dealership and see a salesperson who looked like a million dollars and you were immediately drawn to him. Or perhaps you encountered a salesperson who just looked like a “regular guy”and he impressed you without a word ever have being said. You trusted him immediately.It seemed like you were talking to a friend and not a salesman.
Suppose you are a buyer and encounter a salesperson who makes you feel comfortable immediately. He can be a person who looks a bit disheveled (still neat however), and you feel a bond with him. Perhaps a saleslady who looks in control and competent so much so that you feel an immediate affiliation with her.
What is that certain something that some salespeople seem to possess? That certain “je ne sais quoi” that separates the winners from the also rans. I could go on and on. We all know what I am alluding to. We have all encountered it either as a salesperson or as a buyer. What is it that some salespeople have that makes customers want to buy from them immediately without people even knowing them or the salesperson uttering a word? That is the secret that separates the ordinary from the sublime.
How do you get to be that someone? How is it done? I nor anyone else has the answer, but I do have a way for you to try to become one of those people. Here it is. Watch them, observe them. See how they do things,everything. How they act, how they carry themselves. Maybe they do not even realize it or are aware of it but they know they are successful. The point is whether they realize it or not they are to be watched and observed. Perhaps what they do, though successful for them; may not lead to success for you. You can at least try to determine what you can garner from watching them. I assure you it is not just luck. They do possess that certain “je ne sais quoiu” and perhaps by first recognizing it then observing it and trying to emulate it you may also some day possess it.
This is not a difficult concept to understand but a hard one to try and adopt. People are successful for a reason, you may not think so, they may not be aware of it but it exists. What you can do is recognize it; and try to adapt it. Use those things which they do, and incorporate them into your selling technique to see if it will work for you and make you successful. It is something no one can explain, but you may be lucky enough to observe it, emulate it, and be successful as a result of gaining it.
